This Fleeting Clean Feeling

2013-08-01-bm

Aw geez :(

So some of you have read this, from the last part of the YEAR ONE storyline! I’m finally getting around to putting these up online now that the website is at least *working* again rather than a comparatively attractive HTML corpse. I’ll put one up every couple of days until we’ve run through them all, and again everything is going in “present time” (by which I mean, uh, me posting comics intended to run around October-November 2013, according to my master-plans.) OR if you JUST CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE EXCITING CONCLUSION / wish to throw some material support in my direction, all these are in the Bad Mother book which I’m selling on my Gumroad store as either a PDF or a PHYSICAL BOOK WOW.

I don’t have too much to say about this one, except I think Cathy’s outfit is neat, though it’s not really distinct from what she always wears or anything

You Smell Like Aqua Net

2013-07-07-bm

For those not aware, this is Aqua Net; it’s pretty useful!

This is the last strip before the BIG FINAL STORYLINE IN “YEAR ONE” of BAD MOTHER. (Actually posted March 25, 2014.) I’m going to be slowly uploading the rest of the storyline as I get the website back in some kind of, um, semblance of decent order. (For those who can not wait, I’m also selling books on Gumroad, print and PDF–the books have the full story in ’em, plus all of the comics either in high-res electronic format so you can read all the stupid little flyers and posters in the back of Starkfutur Coffee, or in print, so that you can have it to love FOR EVER!)

Cauldron of Mourning

2013-07-03-bm

Other possible names of the band included STASIS IN DARKNESS, which I rejected because it seemed harder to letter, or WHITE GODIVA, which seemed, um, problematic.

Also to clarify something that POSSIBLY DOESN’T REQUIRE IT: Arachne has been with the band a long time, since its formation! She’s just gotten better/more unstable lately in a way that is good for the band but bad for everyone in it. I don’t think it actually matters much at this point (and reserve the right to change it if I have good reason to like, One Day, if these characters ever recur), but an Early Reader was confused about this, so I thought I would clarify.

BAND-RELATED: you guys you guys Band Vs Band is updating again, and features a new TAPEWORM-CENTRIC page that y’all gotta read

Oh also: I was named as one of the contributing factors to O/R Books being named one of Flavorwire’s 25 Independent Presses that prove we’re in a Golden Age of Publishing:

Any publisher awesome enough to boast a list that includes a book of Yoko Ono’s poetry, titles by Julian Assange and Douglas Rushkoff, novels like The Dream of Doctor Bantam by Jeanne Thornton, and the must-read Inferno (A Poet’s Novel) by Eileen Myles has more than earned its spot on this list.

Yay! Good to know! I feel like a real asset on the O/R Books! However, um, I just received my first royalty report, and it turns out that as of this moment I’m actually a liability on the O/R Books, since a lot of people have read and loved my book, yet few have like, bought it. MAYBE YOU COULD HELP US OUT IN THAT REGARD

A new page in the Main Story tomorrow (this strip posted on October 1, 2013, OBAMACARE DAY in the US)! A continuation of this Inez band thing Friday! People are thinkin’ thoughts! Reflecting!

Bone Banshee

2013-07-02-bm

We do not see enough of Inez, some of you say! THAT IS ALL ABOUT TO CHANGE! The next five strips in the YEAR ONE chronology are ALL GONNA BE INEZ ALL THE TIME. I hope you enjoy this! (Posted, btw, September 26 2013.)

I feel like I had something else to say, but GUESS I DIDN’T. See y’all next Tuesday!

It Was A Nice Carpet, But We’ll Make Do

2013-06-28-bm

The conclusion of our fun little storyline! It started here. (If you can’t tell, that is a fire engine. I laid this comic out back in June, and I would kinda not have laid it out this way were I to be doing it now. But this is the sad way of comics.)

I like storylines! There will be two more of them, one a little shorter than this and one a little longer than this, before I finish with the Year One stuff, along with a couple of non-storyline comics. I want to have a book ready by March 2014, i.e. STAPLE. (For archival purposes: this is being posted 9/19/13.) If anyone knows possible ways to have this book be in color without (1) going through Createspace, which I want to avoid, or (2) costing a huge amount of money, please let me knowwww.
