It’s seriously bad at the copy store when an old dude needs a million weird receipts copied. It is such a painstaking process!
As far as what song from “The Wall” is playing at maximum volume throughout the strip: which song would be the funniest? PLEASE CAST YR VOTE IN THE COMMENTS DEAR READERS.
I will see you all Tuesday, when we take a mysterious journey into the underwater deeps with our intrepid heroines.
(Note: this strip also appears in the new issue of ROCKSALT, which has JUST DROPPED. Find a copy around Austin, or read it online here! (Here’s the rudimentary official website for back issues: http://fictioncircus.com/rocksalt.) I also did the dialogue for John David Brown‘s excellent comic strip Stillbourne in this one.)

The funniest song from The Wall to play at maximum volume would specifically NOT be one of the ones with famous riffs meant to loudly oppress you (ie: “Waiting For The Worms”), or the obvious comedy option of “The Trial”. My vote might be “The Thin Ice”, specifically the “if you should go SKATING” part where the piano gets almost sort of jaunty.
…
However, in this context, it’d be hard to argue against “Mother”.
What about “The Show Must Go On”?
A solid choice! I think it’s got similar comedic appeal to Thin Ice for being one of those inbetweeny tracks it’s easy to forget about.
There’s no way to forget about that one though because members of the Beach Boys sing on it
Love how the music notes drift up into that second panel, transcending the constraints of lame old linear time. This be the terrifying frontier of COMICS!
Also, “I guess I’m worse than Eva Braun” is just really good.
The notes are drifting THROUGH INEZ’S ARM also
