In my new and weakened condition I have been taken advantage of! Oh White Man’s Folly! I refer of course to sports gambling. Now as I am a man of some pluck and derring-do I am not so Foolish as to indulge in *normal* sports gambling; no Johnny Race-Track I! No, I indulge in political betting!
And yesterday…well, I won’t say the right man won, or the right woman lost, or the right woman won or man lost (equal opportunity Junior!) but I will say this —
I MADE $50!

Wednesdays are my favorite SWE days! I like to surprise myself with the new one by reading all the previous ones from the beginning while I am doing laundry, so I can see the whole story every Wednesday. It takes me awhile, but it is my chance to see the complete “arc” so I can see how things are changing. I like to try and predict what will happen next (though I am always wrong!)
I want the laughs to be with me, truly I do, but I just learned that Bil Keane, a giant among cartoonists, has passed away at the age of 89. When I think of a world without “Family Circus” which this comic reminds me of a lot by the way, I think of a world in which I don’t want to live.
One day, though, my grief will pass, and the laughs will be with me again. A cartoon featuring that deliciously devious Scoopy Mews, the cat, might help me smile.
I understand how you feel, but if you don’t learn my cat’s name I will hurt you.
